COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ WFHB is hosting a benefit concert Saturday at Buskirk-Chumley Theater to support its day-to-day operations after funding cuts. Tickets cost $21.82 (all proceeds fund operations) and five bands featuring about 33 musicians will perform to unite the community. Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ The IU chapter of Beta Theta Pi was suspended from recruitment and initiation on Jan. 27 by the Office of Student Life due to hazing allegations — the investigation is ongoing. Bloomington Parks and Recreation announced on Jan. 20 that the city is now a Bee City USA member. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Following the championship win, coach Curt Cignetti said Hoosier Gameday Lager was the best beer ever, and orders surged at Upland Brewing in downtown Bloomington. The brewery will release a limited commemorative can in mid- to late February and gifted the coach lifetime beer. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington's Stahl Furniture left its downtown location at South Walnut and Second streets after 50 years and moved three miles west to a former KMart building. Owner Ty Osborne said the 88,000 sqft showroom offers a safer environment and room for expansion. The Herald-Times
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Bloomington is hosting 2026 Black History Month events, starting with a free Kick-Off Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 7 at City Hall (doors open 3:30 p.m., program begins 4 p.m.) featuring local performers and youth arts. - ➤ Poet and songwriter Psoy Korolenko performed 18 traditional Yiddish and Slavic songs on Wednesday night at Ford-Crawford Hall through an event hosted by the Jewish Studies Program and Jacobs School of Music—each piece was briefly introduced with its historical background. Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ Caleb Hearon will speak in a question and answer lecture on Apr. 14 at the IU Auditorium, hosted by the IU Union Board and Arts and Humanities Council as part of the Granfalloon festival. - ➤ Blue Man Group will perform at IU Auditorium on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 as part of the BLUEVOLUTION tour. Ticket holders can join a pre-show Kids Night on Broadway featuring sound experiments and DIY instrument activities. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Officials addressed snow plowing gaps after last weekend's storm and held a community forum to plan the future of the former Herald-Times building at 1900 S. Walnut St. The Perry Township trustee vacancy caucus is scheduled for Jan 31 at 2 p.m. (city council chambers). The B Square Bulletin
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Indiana House passed a bill that lets the governor deploy a National Guard military police force to work with local law enforcement in emergencies — a measure set to enhance response protocols. The bill now heads to the Senate for further review. The Bloomingtonian

- ➤ Indiana men's soccer added five transfers last Thursday from the portal to fill every position group.
