- ➤ Bloomington announced the 2026 Women’s Achievement Awards winners (Dr. Kirstin Milks, Cindy Chavez, and Ayla Sohrabi-Nia) who will be honored at the Women’s History Month Luncheon on March 25 at Monroe Convention Center. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington Volunteer Network invites residents to join a 100,000-hour volunteer challenge running through 2026. Volunteers can also sign up for the Lotus Blossoms World Bazaar on April 3-4 and Imaginary Zoo at Switchyard Park (1601 S. - ➤ A tornado struck Monroe County Airport on Feb. 19, damaging Bob Burke’s hangar and muscle car collection while most aircraft remained intact + Burke, who cut short his vacation, said he plans to repair the vehicles. The Herald-Times

- ➤ AES said on Monday, Mar. 2 that it will be sold to a consortium led by Global Infrastructure Partners & EQT Infrastructure VI to become private, with the deal expected to close late in 2026 or early in 2027 without affecting customer rates as local Indiana and Ohio operations continue. WTHR

- ➤ Renowned science personality Neil deGrasse Tyson will deliver a humorous lecture titled 'An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies: Part II' at the IU Auditorium on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. — his first lecture at IU since 2017. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Darius Rucker announced his 2026 Songs of Summer tour with six special guests, kicking off on June 4 in Toledo and concluding on Aug. 1 in Indianapolis (a nearby opportunity for Bloomington listeners). Tickets start at $49 for select shows as the tour visits 20 cities. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington launched the 14th Annual Linda P. Thompson Eco-Heroes Art Contest themed 'Our Nature at Night.' Residents can submit art by email or at City Hall from March 17 to April 7 and winners will be honored on April 18 at Switchyard Park during Earth Day. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Ivy Tech Bloomington invites early childhood experts to present at its free Community Roots conference on Oct. 3. Proposals are due May 15 for breakout sessions lasting 75 minutes that offer practical strategies for local educators — intended to boost community learning. The Herald-Times

- ➤ On March 2, the DOJ began reviewing Indiana University’s scholarship programs to check civil rights compliance, requesting data on student demographics and award criteria (the probe follows recent federal guidance on DEI practices) while IU preserved all related records. The Herald-Times

- ➤ After winning their first national title, the Indiana Hoosiers made history by sending nine players to the NFL scouting combine an hour north of campus, including Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza. - ➤ Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti signed a new $105.6 million contract on Feb. 4, promising an average of $13.2 million annually after leading the Hoosiers to a national title.
