- ➤ Indiana's initial unemployment claims increased to 2,525 for the week ending Feb. 28, up from 2,469 the week before, the Labor Department said. National claims remained steady at 213,000. The Herald-Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Preliminary results show the EMPOWER ticket won the IU Student Government executive election on Friday with 62.06% of the vote, beating FORWARD. Junior Alexa Avellaneda and sophomore Anna Sofia Nguyen Loeb will serve as president and vice president once the IUSG Supreme Court certifies the vote (pending certification). Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ The City invites community input on the Indiana Avenue Safety Improvements Project at a meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 in City Council Chambers at City Hall (401 North Morton Street); staff will show a revised design for safer crossings, improved bicycle access and reduced speeds. - ➤ Daylight saving time will begin tomorrow when clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. and local bars and restaurants will offer extended alcohol service until 4 a.m. to adjust to the time change. The Herald-Times
