  • Bloomington is hosting the Bloomington #StandsWithUkraine Fundraiser 2025 on March 26 at The Runcible Spoon, 412 East 6th Street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.—the event features a special performance by the Indiana Slavic Choir, with a $40 donation and food provided to support Ukrainian relief efforts.  The Bloomingtonian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monroe County will hold a public hearing on vote centers on Monday, April 7 at 5:00 p.m. in the Nat U. Hill Room at the historic county courthouse at 100 West Kirkwood downtown — participants can join remotely via Microsoft Teams.  The B Square Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • IU Health awarded a $650,000 grant to Beacon, Inc.—a Bloomington nonprofit that serves individuals facing homelessness, hunger and poverty—to fund renovations at the new Beacon Center. The grant will be distributed over two years to support permanent supportive housing, an emergency overnight shelter and a resource center with integrated behavioral health services.  The Bloomingtonian

  • In Bloomington, first-time renters must know whether they are responsible for utilities or receive extra amenities with their rent. SPORTS NEWS

  • Bloomington South’s junior offensive lineman Arellano was named to the Indiana Football Coaches Association All-Star game—extending the school’s 11-year streak of having a player selected. He will join other invitees on July 11 at Decatur Central.  The Herald-Times
  • Coach Gary Sims announced his permanent retirement on March 13th after a 17-year career with the Mustang girls that saw 248 wins. He said internal reasons and feeling worn out made him decide to stop coaching and enjoy watching his players as a fan.  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana football had its best season ever with an 11-2 record under head coach Curt Cignetti and will try to repeat that success in 2025. The team brought in the 18th-best transfer class led by Fernando Mendoza—will hold its Spring Game on April 19 at noon and open the season on Aug. 30 against Old Dominion at Memorial Stadium.  Indiana Daily Student
