- ➤ Baked! at 115 N. Washington St. reopened on Saturday, March 14 after closing on Dec. 23, 2025 because of water damage; the shop now offers iced coffee (sourced from Brown County Coffee) and has improved its layout for ordering custom cookies. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington and Alluinn Development purchased land today at the corner of Rogers and 10th for a four-story, 170-room boutique hotel in the Trades District — construction will begin this summer once permits are approved, adding key meeting space and hospitality for local innovation. - ➤ Mama Duke's Hawaiian Barbeque is expanding its presence in Bloomington with a food truck available Wednesday and Thursday and upcoming participation in the Community Farmers' Market every other weekend starting Saturday, April 4 (located at 401 N. - ➤ The Black Film Center + Archive and University Collections at McCalla opened ‘By Their Own Hands: The Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame’ on Sept. 5, honoring film legends with a wall of 42 handprints and memorabilia. - ➤ Indiana University's Earth and Atmospheric Sciences department launched a weekly weather balloon program to improve forecasts and train students, starting February. The initiative is part of a national collaboration among 20 schools with the National Weather Service and will continue as funding permits (a new research opportunity). Indiana University
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MCCSC approved selling the former Herald-Times building at a March 24 meeting. The district will post a notice within 30 days and hire a broker to sell the property, used for storage and bus parking near High School South — a move driven by soaring renovation costs. The B Square Bulletin
- ➤ Welding work on the convention center expansion was underway at the 3rd Street and Walnut Street site on March 25 (Dave Askins reported) as part of the public project to update local event spaces. The B Square Bulletin
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Indiana football will hold its spring game on April 23 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington; fans will get a first-look at the 2026 roster featuring returning starters, freshmen, and transfers.
