CULTURE NEWS

  • Constellation Stage & Screen premiered its adaptation of 'Maple and Vine' to a sold-out crowd at Constellation Playhouse last Thursday and the play will run through April 13. The production uses creative stage design and lighting cues—shifting scenes to 1950s America—to explore themes of nostalgia and social change.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Flow Collective, based in Indianapolis, held its first market event in Bloomington at Upland Brewing Co. Woodshop on Saturday—29 vendors offered vintage clothing, handmade body care and other creative items while organizers said they plan to host more pop-ups to support local creators statewide.  Indiana Daily Student

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Five years after COVID changed IU, many former students say they still feel the loss of celebrations, internships and face-to-face classes. Alumni like Motherwell and McCammon explained that important plans were canceled (such as in-person graduations and key internships) and they now face lasting challenges in their social and work lives (affecting both careers and well-being).  Indiana Daily Student

HEALTH NEWS

  • Indiana’s vaccination rates for young children fell from 70% in 2020 to 56.4% in 2023 and full-series rates in Monroe County dropped from 83% in 2019 to 69% in 2023 due to fewer provider visits and misinformation—fueling concerns amid a measles outbreak. Monroe County will host a mobile MMR vaccine clinic today from 1:30—5:30 p.m. at the southwest branch of the public library to improve vaccine access.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Saturday's indoor state track meet at Fall Creek Pavilion, Bloomington North boys won the team title as junior Caleb Winders anchored the 1,600 relay in a record-setting effort while Bloomington South girls broke school records with Ellie Barada leading a narrow victory in the 3,200 relay. Owen Valley junior Noah Hall also won the small school boys high jump title by clearing a career-best 6-8.  The Herald-Times
  • On Saturday at Bill Armstrong Stadium, the Black Key Bulls earned the fastest time in the men’s Little 500 qualifiers and finished three seconds ahead of the Cutters in a field of 38 teams. The team focused on smooth exchanges as they set themselves up as favorites for the main race on April 26—showing a strong comeback from previous setbacks.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana women's basketball beat the University of Utah on March 21 + lost to the University of South Carolina on March 23, ending their season in the NCAA Tournament. The team played in Columbia and was eliminated after the Round of 32 game.  Indiana Daily Student
  • The Indiana men’s team finished third at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday, scoring a program record 459 points and setting 10 records while winning five titles. The divers swept all three events—an achievement reached only twice in NCAA history—marking a historic moment for the team.  The Herald-Times
  • Delta Gamma finished first among 36 teams in the women’s Little 500 qualifications at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Saturday—rebounds from an early setback to post a 2:43.166 finish and they will compete for the title on April 25.  Indiana Daily Student
