- ➤ The 52nd season of the Farmers’ Market begins Saturday, April 4 at Showers Common (401 N. Morton St. next to City Hall) with hours from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while Griffy Lake Boathouse will open Saturday and Sunday for watercraft rentals and launch permit sales. City of Bloomington
- ➤ IU fraternities increased service and fundraising efforts in February and early March, hosting events from a weeklong service project to pushup fundraisers that supported local nonprofits (such as food banks and shelters) in Bloomington. - ➤ Bloomington Volunteer Network posted local volunteer opportunities for food drives and community events. These include a Spring Stuff-a-Bus at Kroger stores on April 11, a rummage sale help on April 12, a talent show assist on April 17, and support for Bobby’s Pantry. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Indiana University’s Letters of Love club spreads hope by writing handmade cards for children facing serious illnesses. - ➤ Novo Nordisk will lay off around 400 employees at its Bloomington site at the beginning of May. The company confirmed it will offer severance (outplacement assistance and transition support) following past layoffs under former owner Catalent. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Indiana University Bloomington students are competing in the Little 500 to support the Students Helping Students campaign, which aims to raise funds for basic needs (targeting 1,250 donors). The campaign started March 28 and will continue until the races on April 24 and 25. Indiana University
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local musicians performed at the Pillar Arts Alliance Center on Sunday to raise funds for a documentary about forest management in the Hoosier National Forest. - ➤ Indiana University research linking overseas generic drugs to more adverse events inspired bipartisan Senate legislation, the CLEAR LABELS Act, which would require drug labels to show manufacturer and supply chain details.
