- ➤ Bloomington's Community Farmers' Market will begin its 51st season tomorrow at 8 a.m. at Showers Common next to City Hall—rain or shine it will run every Saturday through November. Griffy Lake Boathouse will open watercraft rentals and sell launch permits on April 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.—it will close briefly if lightning or high water levels affect safe launching. - ➤ Overnight vandalism on April 3 left broken windows at The Forge and foam-filled Tesla chargers outside Fresh Thyme Market—staff confirmed everyone is safe and police are investigating criminal mischief. The Bloomingtonian
- ➤ Overnight on April 3, 2025, vandals damaged several Bloomington sites including The Forge, where windows were broken, and a Tesla Supercharger station on the west side, where connectors were filled with spray foam — police are investigating the incidents. The Bloomingtonian

- ➤ The IU Singing Hoosiers will celebrate their 75th anniversary tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center with a retrospective concert that features four sets of music—from Hoagy Carmichael classics to contemporary hits—and will include a 40-piece orchestra plus alumni performances. - ➤ The City of Bloomington will unveil OT 987 — a large interactive sculpture by Berlin-based artist Stefan Reiss — on Thursday, April 10th at Makers Way and Tenth Street in the Trades District. The event will feature remarks by Mayor Kerry Thomson, a reception at the site and The Forge, and music by DJ Good Peoples under the city’s One Percent for the Arts program. City of Bloomington

- ➤ Indiana University began investigating professor Xiaofeng Wang after questions arose about a 2017-18 Chinese grant and terminated him on March 28 after FBI agents searched his and his wife’s homes—his wife, Nianli Ma, was also terminated following his acceptance of a job offer in Singapore. The investigation started in December and expanded in February as the university sought clarification about the undisclosed grant. Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ 19-year-old opera singer Tiara Abraham was IU’s youngest master’s graduate in 2024 and is now one of its youngest doctoral students. She has performed on major stages like the Vatican and Vienna’s Musikverein—she began music lessons at 7 and will continue to build her performance career after completing her doctorate. - ➤ At a March 12 meeting, the city council did not introduce two resolutions meant to amend the Unified Development Ordinance—proposals to add sustainability incentives, remove parking minimums, and allow denser housing—due to disagreements among officials.
