- ➤ Local readers can nominate favorite businesses for the Best of B‑Town Community’s Choice Awards as voting begins in April, with Alternative Care Solutions LLC spotlighted for its 24/7 home care services that offer daily support to residents. - ➤ A new student exhibit, Changing Rooms, soft-launched yesterday at Pillar Arts where students transformed a former Victoria's Secret into healing spaces including a release room for venting (part of an eight-week design seminar). - ➤ The 154 Maurer J.D. students will get $10,000 each in May from nearly $1.6 million donated by anonymous benefactors — the surprise was shared at a March 31 event at Baier Hall to ease law school costs. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Indiana University placed its Alpha Kappa Lambda chapter on cease and desist on Thursday for alleged hazing — the order stops the fraternity from hosting social and recruitment events while the investigation continues. Indiana Daily Student
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ INDOT will reduce a lane on a 0.4-mile stretch of Ind. 46 about five miles east of Bloomington starting Wednesday, Apr. 8 for drainage work to replace an aging box culvert — work is set to continue until early June. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution near the work zone. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Monroe County will have lane restrictions on Bennett Lane (and on Kerr Creek, Curry Pike, De Ann Drive, and Rogers Street) from April 6 to April 10, with Bennett Lane closed daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rockport Road will be closed from June to November for bridge work. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Pinnacle Asset Management purchased Bloomington’s historic Batman House (a limestone Victorian at Kirkwood and Madison) for $770,000 after winning an online auction; developer Peter Dvorak is assessing uses such as offices, boutique hotel and apartments while consulting with city planning staff.
