- ➤ Eric Montgomery was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to rape in a separate case from his previous conviction for raping an IU student and will serve his sentence concurrently with the earlier term. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ The IU Arts and Humanities Council organized April’s First Thursdays festival indoors after rain led vendors and students to gather at sites like the IU Auditorium and the Eskenazi Museum of Art. Local vendors including IU senior Kobi Recht and graduate student Bronwyn Meldrum sold handmade wood carvings — inspired by travel — and crochet items alongside live performances and interactive workshops. - ➤ IU’s Kinsey Institute held a sexual violence prevention symposium at McCalla School Friday — experts like keynote speaker Mary Koss discussed changes to a survey that will help measure and reduce sexual exploitation. - ➤ The Monroe County Community School Corporation board will interview four candidates—Aja Jester, Blake Garland-Tirado, Gabriel Holbrow, and Cori Thornton Hammock—on April 10 to fill the seat left by Brandon Shurr's resignation. - ➤ Heavy rain on Friday and Saturday caused flooding in south-central Indiana—roads and parking lots were impassable in the Lake Lemon area and along Salt Creek Road near Nashville where water reached 3—4 feet in low areas.
