CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, the Bloomington Music Expo took place at the Switchyard Park pavilion where vendors from six states sold thousands of new and used CDs, cassettes and memorabilia—creating a lively scene for local music fans. Hosted by For The Record Vinyl, the event also featured a raffle giving shoppers a chance to win prizes.  Indiana Daily Student
  • David Sedaris, a humorist, will share his family stories and insights on his writing process at Indiana University Auditorium on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35 as he explains his challenging past with his father (who once predicted failure for him).  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana University senior Jack Pontius restored a rare 1947 Hudson Super Six with suicide doors after inheriting it from a family friend and working to revive it from decades of barn storage—he installed a 1950 motor and replaced key parts so that the car now sits at his Bloomington apartment and he will drive it after he graduates next month.  The Herald-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today a public hearing on vote centers for Monroe County began at 5 p.m. in the historic courthouse to start a required public feedback period. A second hearing is scheduled for May 19—county officials must reach a unanimous decision on converting 29 precinct sites to vote centers at an estimated cost of about $600,000 while addressing mailing budget concerns.  The B Square Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana men’s basketball added Reed Bailey—former Davidson forward with one season of eligibility remaining—on Sunday. Bailey averaged 18.8 points and earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors as he joins other transfers to boost the team.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Former Indiana men’s basketball guard Myles Rice committed to Maryland on Sunday after playing one season for Indiana where he averaged 10.1 points and 2.8 assists in 32 games. He now joins Maryland under new head coach Buzz Williams—hired April 1—as he prepares for the upcoming season.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana transfer Reed Bailey played three seasons at Davidson and earned Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player and first-team all-conference honors this season—he averaged 18.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists while improving his scoring and playmaking before joining Tucker DeVries and Conor Enright in the transfer portal.  The Herald-Times
  • Former Iowa guard Josh Dix (who averaged 14.4 points per game last season) announced his commitment to Creighton University on Friday morning via Instagram; he turned down a chance to play with former teammate Tucker DeVries (with Indiana) and his decision leaves Indiana men's basketball with fewer scholarship options for the 2025-26 season.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana football senior wide receiver Tyler Morris, a transfer from Michigan, suffered a non-contact knee injury during spring camp and will miss the 2025 season after season-ending surgery, coach Curt Cignetti announced. The team is short on receivers and will add walk-ons during summer and fall camp to fill the gap.  Indiana Daily Student
