- ➤ IU professor Tom Walsh directed an ensemble featuring students and international talent on April 6 at the Musical Arts Center. The performance attracted about 100 community members and showcased improvised solos (a nod to jazz’s creative spirit). Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Indiana University leads local graduate rankings as the 2026 U.S. News report names the O’Neill School’s MPA program No. 1 and the Kelley School’s MBA No. 7 among public universities. Sixteen IU programs ranked in the nation’s top 10 (showing strong results) in Bloomington. Indiana University
- ➤ Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Children and Youth is accepting nominations for the SWAGGER Awards (youth recognition) to honor local youth; nominations are open through Friday, May 16 and the ceremony will be held at Switchyard Park on Wednesday, May 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. City of Bloomington

- ➤ Monroe County officials say poison hemlock in local areas will bloom soon and can cause chemical burns and harm livestock if not removed safely. They recommend using herbicides, mowing, or manual removal with proper protective gear + following advised methods before the plants spread further. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Farm Bloomington is debuting its spring cocktail and non-alcoholic menus today at 108 E. Kirkwood Ave. The menus feature drinks themed after phobias and matching loves, with options for addressing fears such as clowns and ghosts. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Former IU men’s basketball players were honored with commemorative rings during halftime at a national championship game in Indianapolis Monday night—marking the 50-year legacy of the undefeated 1976 team. The event celebrated the lifelong bond formed under coach Bob Knight. Indiana University
