- ➤ Bloomington’s parking garages are nearing full occupancy for their ground-floor office spaces—Energy Sciences Network moved into the Trades District space at the start of April while city officials negotiated with a prospective tenant for the 4th Street space. - ➤ The Bloomington/Monroe County Human Rights Commission announced twelve winners in the Human Rights Art and Essay Contest from nearly 100 students in grades K to 6 from seven local schools who answered a prompt on how diversity makes our community stronger. Winners will be honored at a ceremony at City Hall on April 24 from 5 to 6 p.m.—their work is on display in the atrium until that day. City of Bloomington
- ➤ Bloomington is one of two Indiana college towns on Rent Cafe’s list of the nation’s best college towns and earned a score of 94.60 while ranking third among Midwestern towns—showing strong support for local students. - ➤ Residents spoke Monday at the Monroe County Election Board hearing in support of converting polling places to vote centers so any registered voter can cast a ballot at any location+ the board will vote on the plan at 5:30 p.m. May 19 at the courthouse, a move estimated to cost $601,763 and add three early voting centers. - ➤ Bloomington mayor Kerry Thomson introduced Nikeshia Fomby as the new director of community engagement during Monday night's Traveling Town Hall at the Banneker Community Center, and a news release on April 8 confirmed her appointment. - ➤ The Indiana Department of Health announced Monday its first confirmed measles case of 2025 in an unvaccinated minor from Allen County.
