- ➤ Firefighters with the Monroe Fire Protection District rescued four dogs from a burning home on the 6900 block of South McCormick Lane Friday morning—an electrical failure caused the fire that claimed a cat while no one was hurt. The Bloomingtonian

- ➤ Indiana University is showing a collection of rare comic book art rescued from the Palisades Fire—this exhibit features original drafts and prints by Marvel artist Mike Zeck gathered by IU alum Chuck Costas. The display remains at the McCalla Building until February 2026. WRTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Monroe County Community School Corp will have asynchronous instruction on April 14 so that staff can join a protest at the Indiana Statehouse against Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), which will cut funding by $17 million over three years by reducing property taxes for nearly 67% of homeowners. The bill will also require school corporations to share referendum tax revenue with local charter schools (starting in 2028), and officials are urging community members to call legislators. - ➤ A Bloomington Utilities customer had his water turned off after a shutoff notice arrived late and had an old date, leaving him unprepared when service stopped the next morning. The utility said it would launch an electronic notification system in the second quarter to fix mailing delays—customers who miss payments are charged a $90 reconnection fee. The B Square Bulletin
