  • Bloomington hosted its first spring Junk in the Trunk sale at Switchyard Park, drawing 1,000 attendees, 99 vendor booths, and food trucks for secondhand shopping and outdoor fun. CULTURE NEWS

  • Live music returns this week in Bloomington with Natalie Boeyink’s free jazz set at Buskirk-Chumley today, folk and indie concerts Wednesday at the Orbit Room and The Bluebird, Food Truck Friday at Switchyard Park, Saturday’s deadhead happy hour at the Orbit Room, and an ABBA tribute on Sunday at Buskirk-Chumley.  Indiana Daily Student
  • The Culture Shock music festival celebrated its 40th anniversary Saturday at Dunn Meadow when WIUX hosted the free event in Bloomington, where about 400 people enjoyed performance sets from eight musicians & bold headliner Hatchie from Australia.  Indiana Daily Student

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, will step down on June 30 after nearly seven years — then go on sabbatical before returning as a teacher later. The school will begin its search for a new dean this fall.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana women's tennis lost to Ohio State 4-0 on April 12 at the IU Tennis Center as several singles matches went unfinished on senior day.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana's softball team swept Purdue in a three-game series at Andy Mohr Field in Bloomington, finishing the weekend with an 18-run offensive burst. Junior Aly VanBrandt and senior Avery Parker led the charge as 10 players posted key hits.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana men's tennis lost to Wisconsin on Friday and then beat Nebraska on Sunday to level its record at 10-10. The team will travel to East Lansing on April 17 to face Michigan State (in its final regular season match).  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana baseball lost its Maryland series after a winning start on Friday, a 14-4 loss Saturday, and a Sunday walk-off grand slam that spoiled a 6-4 lead. The Hoosiers will face Indiana State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Terre Haute and host Evansville on Wednesday at Bart Kaufman Field.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana men's golf struggled in the second round of the Robert Kepler Invitational held Saturday and Sunday at Columbus Country Club (in Columbus). The team finished 13th with a 7-over-par score and will compete in its regular season at the Hoosier Collegiate in Bloomington on April 18-19.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Over the weekend, Indiana baseball hit eight home runs for 21 runs at Bob Turtle Smith Stadium in College Park but lost the series with inconsistent pitching. The team will rebound in their contest against Indiana State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana water polo ended its season with a (16-11) record after losing to UCLA on Friday, beating San Jose State 14-11 on Saturday, and falling to Arizona State 18-12 on Sunday.  Indiana Daily Student
