COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network highlights local ways to give back. My Flying University needs a board member, teens can help at Banneker Center on April 17, a spring clean-up is set for Lincoln Street Club on April 25, and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard seeks snack and bag donations.  The Herald-Times
  • More than 100 IU community members gathered Monday at Presidents Hall for the annual Remembering Hoosiers Ceremony to honor 10 students and 12 employees who passed since the last event in March 2025.   • Bloomington is accepting nominations for the 2026 SWAGGER Awards, recognizing local youth and youth groups for positive community contributions. Nominations are open until May 16 + the awards ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. May 27 at Switchyard Park.  The Herald-Times
  • Walking Week runs from April 12-18 at Spring Mill State Park, with daily guided hikes for all skill levels including one in Mitchell.   • T-Mobile now offers fiber internet service in Bloomington — it provides fast upload and download speeds with no data caps and free Wi-Fi equipment. The installation takes about four hours and plans start at $55 per month with a five-year price lock guarantee.  The Herald-Times

  • Bloomington’s 17th annual Trashion Refashion Runway Show took place on April 12 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater — featuring over 50 designs crafted from repurposed materials and raising funds for the Center for Sustainable Living.  The B Square Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana women's tennis split its weekend play by upsetting Penn State but losing to Ohio State, which moved their record to 14-9 overall and 4-7 in Big Ten play (the team will head to Los Angeles to face UCLA Friday at 4 p.m. and USC Saturday at 3 p.m.).  Indiana Daily Student
  • IU men's tennis split their weekend series at the IU Tennis Center; on April 10 and April 12, players faced Wisconsin and Nebraska, with wins improving team records and a controversial call prompting Michael Andre to question the ruling (photos captured the tense moment).  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana men’s basketball secured former Georgia Tech guard Jaeden Mustaf Monday. The sophomore averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game last season and will join coach Darian DeVries’ team as it rebuilds ahead of upcoming departures.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana softball builds on a sweep over Purdue as they host Notre Dame at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Andy Mohr Field—then travel to face Louisville at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kentucky.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana baseball aims to bounce back after narrow losses as it visits Indiana State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Terre Haute and hosts Evansville on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Bart Kaufman Field (starting pitchers are yet to be announced).  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana basketball added three transfers from Notre Dame, Duke, and Georgia Tech on Monday, Apr. 13 as the Hoosiers rebuild their roster for 2025-26. Notre Dame point guard Markus Burton led the group with a standout performance, averaging 19.1 points last season.  The Herald-Times
