BUSINESS NEWS

  • Target will host a car seat trade-in event from April 27 to May 10 for Bloomington residents to trade in any car seat and receive a 20% Target Circle bonus to buy a new seat or select baby gear — the bonus, which can be used twice, applies to both in-store and online purchases through May 24 — though it excludes some brands such as Wonderfold and Doona.  The Herald-Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • The University Collections at IU opened an exhibit on April 11 in the McCalla School that shows original comic art, props, and costumes by Marvel artist Mike Zeck. The exhibit runs through February 2026 and is open Tuesday—Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for visitors to learn about his work.  Indiana Daily Student
  • The Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble will perform its spring concert (Friends, Remembrances, and Jollity) on May 5 at the Bloomington High School North auditorium with showtime at 7 p.m. (Free and open to the public), and conductor Stephen Pratt will lead a program that features works by Gershwin, Holst and Elgar plus two premieres by emerging composers.  The Bloomingtonian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • An IU coalition including People’s 2030 Platform and the IU AAUP held a protest at Franklin Hall on Thursday to support academic freedom and free speech. About 50 protesters set up tables with flyers and posters, listened to speakers, and marched to Dunn Meadow—demanding better protection for faculty.  Indiana Daily Student

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Senate passed Bill 1144 on April 15, eliminating judgeships in eleven mostly rural counties—Monroe, Greene, and Owen among them—to save the state up to $2.75M in future fiscal years. The bill now returns to the House for review and possible adjustments.  The Herald-Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Assistant professor Michelle Del Rio helps local communities find and reduce lead in water and dust. She works with schools and households to run blood-lead screening and technical studies to spot high risk—efforts that may lower lead poisoning among children.  Indiana University

SPORTS NEWS

  • During spring practice at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, coach Curt Cignetti said the Indiana football team’s talent shined in a live scrimmage that ended 31—23. He noted that he will review film before fall camp to fine tune performance as both new and returning players contributed.  The Herald-Times
