  • On April 19th, hundreds gathered at the Monroe County Courthouse in Bloomington for the 50501 protest, with demonstrators—carrying flags and signs—chanting for change.  The Herald-Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials warn that Little 500 parties may be unsafe because drinks can be spiked with drugs like roofies—surveys show many college students have experienced this—and party-goers are urged to keep their drinks in sight, avoid accepting drinks from strangers, and get help immediately if they feel sick or confused.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana baseball staged a comeback on Friday with a five-run eighth inning and a game-changing home run by freshman shortstop Cooper Malamazian to edge Maryland 7-6 at Bart Kaufman Field. The team began its three-game series with Maryland and played a second game on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Former Indiana men’s basketball forward Mackenzie Mgbako committed to Texas A&M University on April 17 via his X post after playing all 32 games in the 2024-25 season; he entered the transfer portal on March 24 on Instagram to test the waters of the NBA and said he will keep an eye on Indiana's program (he has two years of eligibility left).  Indiana Daily Student
  • Devin Taylor broke the IU baseball career home run record on Saturday with his 48th home run—a 413-foot hit against Maryland—that surpassed marks held by Alex Dickerson, Mike Smith and Mike Sabo. The junior outfielder improved his season with 12 homers, a .362 batting average and 41 RBIs as he led the team.  The Herald-Times
