CULTURE NEWS

  • IU Cinema held a screening on Wednesday of the film 'One Day in April' to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, and director Thomas Miller led a Q&A that explained how the film follows Little 500 teams during the 2013 race—its screening comes before this year's Little 500 races, with the women's race at 4 p.m. Friday and the men's race at 2 p.m. today.   Indiana Daily Student
  • Jacobs School of Music’s Concert Orchestra and Oratorio Chorus performed Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 on Wednesday at the Musical Arts Center with 300 musicians and nearly every one of the center’s 1,000 seats filled. The 90-minute performance ended with a six-minute standing ovation — a sign that the music deeply engaged the audience.  Indiana Daily Student

  • Macro Cycling will race in the men’s Little 500 today at 2 p.m. at Bill Armstrong Stadium after Beta Sigma Psi changed its name following its cease and desist order on Feb 28 — the change was finalized Tuesday evening. The team qualified 13th, will ride in pink and white jerseys and start from pit No. 32.  Indiana Daily Student
  • WSR, a two-rider team, overcame an early crash that caused a 15-racer pileup in the Little 500 and finished eighth despite falling behind — they built their strategy quickly after starting mid-February and meeting the April 20 registration deadline. Their 'balls to the wall' attitude helped them push through setbacks and complete the race with determination.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Kappa Alpha Theta won its record 10th women’s Little 500 title at Bill Armstrong Stadium when the team edged out Alpha Chi Omega and Novus by fractions of a second—marking its second consecutive win.  The Herald-Times
  • High school girls tennis teams in Bloomington have seen weather delays and lineup changes that forced coaches at South, North, Edgewood and Owen Valley to adjust player positions—new players are replacing graduates. Coaches say the changes will help the teams prepare better for upcoming matches.  The Herald-Times
  • Bill Armstrong Stadium is hosting the 37th women's Little 500, which is set to start at 4 p.m. today as teams warm up and fans gather—Alpha Chi Omega and the IU Student Foundation class have already begun their pre-race activities while the clear skies follow a rainy morning.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana men's soccer will begin its 2025 season at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington on Aug. 21 with a contest against Clemson. The teams last met in 2022 in a high-scoring match where Clemson won 3-2 & set the stage for a competitive opener.  Indiana Daily Student
