  • Around 200 residents rallied at Monroe County Courthouse Square on Friday to protest ICE presence after agents were seen and three individuals were detained in a nearby jail — Mayor Kerry Thomson said local authorities have limited power over federal actions while community members expressed concerns for safety at IU.  Indiana Daily Student

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bird’s data for 2025 shows an average of 89 daily scooter trips in Bloomington — a drop of more than 50% compared to 2024 — partly due to colder temperatures and heavier snowfall. The company will double its investment by shipping 300 new devices to boost scooter availability for upcoming events.  The B Square Bulletin

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At IU’s Willkie South, resident assistant Keith Burge decorated the seventh floor with a Brat theme—using neon green accents from Charli XCX’s album—to create a fun living space as the semester ended. A TikTok video by resident Skyler Long gained over 120,000 likes and added extra buzz to the theme that stayed throughout the year.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Students at Kelley School of Business took part in Balance Week by throwing plates, making slime, and petting service dogs to ease stress before finals. The event was part of a bigger plan to support mental health and build peer connections — a key effort led by the school.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Indiana Pacers will start their playoff series against the top-seeded Cavaliers in Cleveland today after a strong win over the Bucks. Local news anchors from Indianapolis and Cleveland made a friendly wager+each side will wear the opposing team's merchandise on air if they lose+ adding a fun twist to the upcoming game.  WTHR
  • At the May 2 Conference Indiana track meet, Bloomington South girls won the team title with seven wins and 149 points (their best since 2016) while North boys extended their six-year streak with a record 190 points. The meet saw several record-breaking performances in sprints, relays, and field events (with individual athletes setting new marks) that energized local track teams.  The Herald-Times
