The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network has listed several local volunteer opportunities including the Summer Launch Party at Bryan Park on May 24—where volunteers aged 16 and up assist with event setup, games and cleanup—and regular workdays at PEAK Animal Sanctuary plus family support events on selected Saturdays. Donations of craft materials for Materials for the Arts are also welcomed at the Monroe County Waste Reduction District in Bloomington.

On May 8th, the Exotic Feline Rescue Center began taking in non-feline animals such as foxes, bears, coyotes, and wolves, marking an expansion of its rescue efforts—aimed at caring for a broader range of exotic species.

Human remains found during March land clearing on the north side of Bloomington were identified as 40-year-old John E Baker Jr., who went missing in 2022 after being last seen near Meadows Hospital—dental records and a forensic team confirmed his identity and a coroner determined he died by suicide.

Straight No Chaser—an a cappella group formed at Indiana University—announced its Holiday Road Tour and new holiday album release.

They will perform in Bloomington on Dec. 11 at the Indiana University Auditorium and will include additional stops in Evansville and Indianapolis before Christmas; tickets go on sale May 14.

Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington will offer free hands-on semiconductor workshops for high school students from July 14 to 18 and for adults from July 21 to 25 at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences on 501 N.

Bloomington city officials announced a parking survey open through May 27 as the city noted that parking fines help pay for key services—officials later confirmed that online records show parking revenue of $1,090,038 in 2023 and $1,156,136 in 2024 before expenses.

The survey and revised numbers come as the city works to clarify its financial estimates.
