- ➤ Federal agents arrested 23 individuals in a joint operation coordinated with ICE, DEA, ATF, USMS and the U.S. Attorney’s Office from April 29 to May 1—several arrests in Bloomington involved a man taken outside a courthouse and another caught after a short foot chase, with 18 suspects holding prior criminal records. - ➤ Indiana University was ranked 10th worst for punishing free speech by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression—seven cases from 2020 to 2024 involved campus bans for protests, an investigation into a TikTok video and a probe into online posts; only the University of Florida, Montclair State and University of South Florida handed out more punishments.
