- ➤ Severe storms on Friday destroyed the main barn and damaged other buildings at People and Animal Learning Services, an equine-assisted learning center, and no people were present while all horses survived unharmed. - ➤ Holli Bennett was crowned the first Ms. Lake Lemon at the pageant held on May 17 at Port Hole Inn where 16 contestants competed in events like pet/child calling and mud puddle jumping under sunny skies around 70°F — the event helped raise funds for Monroe Fire Protection District after Friday’s tornadoes damaged nearby homes. - ➤ On Friday, May 16, a storm produced two EF-2 tornadoes in central Indiana—one near Linton that caused one death and three injuries when a tree hit a vehicle and another that began southwest of Bloomington and damaged homes and businesses along its path through Monroe, Brown and Bartholomew counties. - ➤ Duke Energy announced Sunday morning that it restored power to nearly all customers in Monroe County after a damaging tornado struck on Friday, with crews working in areas where debris and structural damage slowed repairs.
