CULTURE NEWS

  • IU Auditorium announced its 2026–2027 season featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, which will perform on April 22 with conductor Gianandrea Noseda and soloist Ray Chen, Sutton Foster with local students, and family events like Frozen in Concert. Subscribers can select seats on June 15 to save 24 percent.  The Herald-Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Census Bureau data shows 73% of workers in Bloomington live outside the city—and local plans like the Trades District and The Summit will add more housing and higher-wage jobs to keep residents close by. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rogers Street will close from May 26 until June 7 for a crosswalk construction at the entrance to Switchyard Park — the ADA-accessible crossing will include curb ramps and a safety warning device, and park access will remain open via the southern approach.  City of Bloomington
  • The City of Bloomington is now accepting applications for its 2026 Green Home Improvement Program (BGHIP), offering rebates for solar panels, heat pumps and other energy upgrades. Homeowners must apply before work begins since applications are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis, with projects completed in 2026 eligible.  The Herald-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bloomington North won the boys track sectional on May 22 with 191 points, sweeping relays and clinching a seventh straight title over Bloomington South and Edgewood — despite injuries and chaotic moments. Coach Justin Helmer said key athletes performed strongly as the team overcame setbacks.  The Herald-Times
  • The Bloomington South girls tennis team won a tight 3-2 sectional final against the Cougars on May 21 after adjusting their lineup (key changes turned the game around). They will face Greencastle in the Brownsburg Regional on Tuesday, May 26.  The Herald-Times
