- ➤ U.S. Senators Todd Young, Jeanne Shaheen and Kevin Cramer reintroduced the Mental Health Excellence in Schools Act on May 27 to address the shortage of school mental health providers by boosting the pipeline of psychologists, counselors and social workers — the bipartisan measure is designed to ease graduate degree costs and improve access to care for Hoosier students. - ➤ Today, Verizon, Team Penske and the Indianapolis Colts announced a $6 million plan to forgive debt for central Indiana veterans over the next two years. The initiative forgives $1 million already as of May 27, adds $1 million if Will Power finishes in the top 10 at the Indianapolis 500, and gives $2 million through a Colts partnership while Verizon upgrades wireless at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway—nearly covering all local veterans’ medical debt.
