- ➤ Tuesday, June 3 marked 14 years since IU student Lauren Spierer vanished after a night out near 11th Street and College Avenue in Bloomington—her case remains active as police follow over 30 new tips and hope a recently released book sparks fresh leads for new information. WTHR
- ➤ Bloomington police arrested a 20-year-old IU student on Sunday for choking and punching his girlfriend at 6 a.m. on East 15th Street—two IU students were taken into custody for mutual battery at a North Dunn Street residence, a man was arrested at 10:30 p.m. after throwing a trash can through a North Grant Street window, and another man was detained after a road-rage incident at U.S. 46 and State Road 37 on Saturday. - ➤ Constellation Stage and Screen will hold previews of the musical 'The King's Wife' tomorrow in Bloomington with tickets starting at five dollars as audiences help shape its final script and music. The musical, which centers on Catherine of Aragon, debuts on June 13 at the John Waldron Arts Center and runs until June 29—performing on Wednesdays, Thursdays and weekends. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Parks and Recreation will unveil the city's first tactile map at Switchyard Park on June 13 at noon—designed for visitors who are blind or have low vision as part of ongoing accessibility upgrades using nearly $1 million in American Rescue Plan funds. City of Bloomington
- ➤ On June 2, the Bloomington Police Department swore in 11 new officers to reduce its staffing shortage, including one returning from retirement and five from other state agencies—five new officers will begin academy training in August to help bring the force closer to full strength. - ➤ Bloomington’s Department of Economic & Sustainable Development announced the 2025 Small Business Safety & Cleanliness Grant today to provide up to $5,000 for improvements like lighting, security, and sanitation; local businesses must submit project details, cost estimates, and timelines, and funded work must be completed within the agreed schedule. - ➤ Officials from the Monroe County Capital Improvement Board broke ground on the new Bloomington Convention Center Tuesday as they expanded the current facility into a 100,000 square foot venue for a wide range of events. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027. WRTV
- ➤ Officials say that Monroe County residents and businesses affected by the May 16 storms can get help at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center located at Ivy Tech Community College today—applications for physical property damage must be returned by July 29.
