  • The Ellettsville High School Class of 2000 will hold its 25-year reunion on June 28 at 6 p.m. at Phat Daddy’s BBQ and Twisted Tap on Indiana 46 in Ellettsville—tickets cost $25 per person and each member may bring one adult guest.  The Bloomingtonian

  • On Saturday, June 7, children set up 98 registered lemonade stands around Bloomington as part of Monroe County’s Lemonade Day — with IU hosting its Granfalloon festival concurrently. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Indiana University Arts and Humanities Council hosted its annual Granfalloon festival honoring Kurt Vonnegut last week—photographer Juliette Kniola documented events that featured Andy Mendoza Beasley's new cat’s cradle tattoo by Jason Profant, a handmade market on the courthouse lawn, a keynote by Lynda Barry, a poetry slam, and a sculpture display at the Cook Center.  The B Square Bulletin

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Visitors to Beanblossom Bottoms Nature Preserve saw new upgrades on June 6 that included an educational kiosk, benches at the trailhead, an improved access trail and better parking. Sycamore Land Trust, headquartered in Bloomington, funded the project with a Duke Energy Foundation donation and is using the work to protect wetlands—reducing flooding risks and helping wildlife thrive.  The Herald-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents and business owners affected by the May 16 tornadoes in Monroe County are now eligible for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. The agency opened a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at Ivy Tech—open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—with applications for physical damage loans due by July 29 and the center closing at 3 p.m. on June 18.  The Bloomingtonian
