- ➤ The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a targeted shooting on South College Drive that occurred early morning June 18, injuring two residents who were taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and are expected to recover (the victims are a 35-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man). - ➤ On June 19, an IU economist warned that low labor productivity and high housing costs signal challenges for the local economy while the Bloomington Transit board explored purchasing land for a new operations center. The city approved a revised hotel deal in the Trades District and missed its zoning code change deadline—an international bicycle race leader cycled through town on Monday, and Friday will bring fog before 9 a.m. The B Square Bulletin
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Indiana University researcher Jeff Dage developed an innovative blood test that is over 90% accurate in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease and received FDA clearance in May — the test offers a less invasive, more affordable alternative to PET scans and lumbar punctures and will soon allow patients over 55 with symptoms to get an earlier diagnosis, though further work is needed to reduce false positives.
