- ➤ Today, Bloomington hosts public art tours at 9 and 11 a.m. at the Mayor at the Market Farmers' Market tent and a paint day from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Allen and Fairview streets where residents will work on a mural by local artist Rachel Kavathe—art workshops will begin on Monday, June 23 to introduce the dynamic world of public art to the community. - ➤ Monroe County Community School Corporation announced that no teachers will be laid off for the 2025 to 2026 school year as it works to restore financial balance using natural attrition and nonclassroom cuts. - ➤ Bloomington will present oral arguments before an Indiana court of appeals on Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m.—the case reviews the city's attempt to annex urban areas on its west and southwest sides—and officials seek to reverse an earlier trial court decision favoring remonstrators who collected enough signatures for judicial review. - ➤ The City of Bloomington recently mailed all property owners a notice about proposed changes to the Unified Development Ordinance to update land use rules. The proposals include a new commercial urban agriculture use and clear definitions for single room occupancy housing — public hearings will be held at City Hall on July 14 at 5:30 p.m. with further reviews by City Council later this summer.
