  • My Sister’s Closet held a ribbon-cutting event on June 24 at its new home on West Second Street and Patterson Drive where guests saw the new facility and community art while hearing remarks from mayor Kerry Thomson.   • The Swifty Fest: Taylor Swift Tribute Concert will take place Sunday, August 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington, featuring the Indianapolis-based Bejeweled Band with tickets on sale now.  The Bloomingtonian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Bloomington has opened applications for the 2025 Sustainable Neighborhoods Grant to support small-scale projects that advance the Climate Action Plan—teams of at least four local residents can apply for up to $1,000. Eligible projects must be completed within one year—applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the $10,000 budget is fully allocated.  The Bloomingtonian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana basketball will host Kansas State in a one-off nonconference game ahead of the season. Coach Darian DeVries arranged the matchup—similar to last season’s South Carolina visit—to strengthen the schedule.  The Herald-Times
  • The Bloomington City Golf Qualifying Tournament will begin tomorrow at Cascades with players teeing off at 7:30 a.m. in a two-round event where defending champs for the Men's, Seniors and Super Seniors (Jason Bannister, Tim Gillespie and Dan Neubecker) are set to join other local golfers while the top finishers will advance to match play rounds in July.  The Herald-Times
  • IU basketball announced on Thursday eight support staff hires for coach Darian DeVries as he begins his first season in Bloomington. Several hires came from Bradley, West Virginia and Drake — including athletic trainer Andrew Vereen and special assistant Mike Bargen — to complete the coaching team.  The Herald-Times
