- ➤ Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men on July 9 — one from Indianapolis and another from Gadsden with an outstanding warrant — after stopping a utility truck towing a stolen trailer near West Third Street and South Liberty Drive and discovering 138 grams of methamphetamine. - ➤ Manuel Lopez Lopez (39) was arrested on July 2 on the B-Line Trail after officers responded to screams and found him assaulting a woman, and he now faces charges for attempted rape, criminal confinement, and battery resulting in bodily injury after having been released on a plea deal in a prior case in July 2024. - ➤ Bloomington’s drinking water has turned brown because high water levels in Lake Monroe have released iron and manganese from deep lake layers—city officials said the water remains safe for short-term use with levels within EPA advisory standards.
