- ➤ Indiana's jobless claims increased last week, rising from 2,502 to 2,781 for the week ending July 5 as the U.S. Department of Labor reported—while national claims dropped from 232,000 to 227,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis. This shows a regional rise in filings amid a national decline. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Indiana AG Todd Rokita accused Sheriff Marté on Thursday of failing to honor an ICE detainer for Manuel Lopez Lopez during his Feb. 19 sentencing hearing—Marté said he only followed a July 17 ICE notification and that no detainer was on file. A pretrial conference in the pending lawsuit is set for Sept. 2. The B Square Bulletin
- ➤ Monroe County commissioners approved a two-year contract with B and L IT Services for election technical work on voting machines and amended it to require background checks for subcontractors.
