  • Actor Frank Ferrante will perform in 'An Evening with Groucho' at the Constellation Playhouse on Aug. 16 and 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.—the event is co-sponsored by Jewish Theatre of Bloomington and Hundredth Hill, where he will share Groucho Marx’s witty humor and classic one-liners.  The Herald-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Edgewood Schools opened its $12 million early childhood center Thursday morning—doubling its pre-K space to meet high demand, while Monroe County Community School Corporation in Bloomington expanded its pre-K program to include three-year-olds after a 2023 tax referendum. Both districts say that preschool helps children be ready for kindergarten.  WRTV

  • Bloomington alleges that Crawford Apartments failed to meet the Aug. 1 rental code deadline and now files a breach of contract lawsuit seeking $685K against the property management firms and Beacon— the nonprofit providing supportive services at the complex. The city is set to hold further inspections—planned for Sept. 4 and Sept. 5—to verify compliance.  The B Square Bulletin
  • Indiana drivers can buy the new blackout license plate from the BMV beginning Friday, Aug. 8—available online, at a BMV kiosk or in person; the plate costs $45 with an optional personalization fee of $45 and a $9.50 fee for a replacement if needed, with orders delivered within about 30 days. The design is standalone and available only for eligible vehicles such as passenger cars, light trucks, motorcycles or RVs.  The Herald-Times
