- ➤ Indiana University Bloomington is leading an expanded research center that examines individual nanocrystals and has received $20 million Phase 2 funding from the National Science Foundation to unite scientists from nine institutions. The center studies these tiny particles for cleaner fuels, faster electronics, and better chemical manufacturing—while engaging the local community by partnering with an artist to create a mural near WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology. - ➤ Bloomington faces a smaller 2026 budget as the new property tax cap law is set to reduce revenue from $58 million to $54 million, and city controller Jessica McLellan said departments made sharp cuts to reach a proposal with $147 million in expenses against $120 million in revenue.
