- ➤ Indiana University announced that faculty and staff will be able to request ChatGPT Edu access on Sept 2 while students will use the tool starting Jan 1—an effort to integrate AI into learning and prepare the community for an AI-driven economy. This rollout is one of the largest of its kind and aims to give the IU community hands-on experience with AI. WTHR

- ➤ Monroe County officials reviewed the schematic design for a proposed $224.5 million jail and justice center yesterday—faced with funding challenges due to state limits on local borrowing, the county may need to wait until 2028, hold a referendum, or seek legislative relief. The 237,161-square-foot plan includes 404 inmate beds and office space on a 56-acre site at State Road 46 and Hunter Valley Road. The Bloomingtonian
- ➤ A dispute between corporation counsel Margie Rice and city clerk Nicole Bolden led to the cancellation of a closed session of the city council on Aug. 27.
