- ➤ Ford recalled 101,944 2016–2019 Taurus sedans on Sept. 12 due to door trim problems that could make it fall off while driving; owners should take their cars to local dealerships for a free fix. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Almost 5,000 local Latino residents will celebrate their heritage at Fiesta del Otoño this Saturday at Switchyard Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Over 50 groups will join the event — Latino outreach coordinator Ximena Martinez said it will not be canceled despite national immigration tensions. WRTV

- ➤ During the summer, IU students served as McKinney Climate Fellows working with local groups such as Newfields and Second Helpings—improving waste management, removing invasive species, and creating sustainability dashboards while also researching renewable energy projects with rural communities. - ➤ The City of Bloomington Economic and Sustainable Development Department launches Sustainability Spooktacular this October with four in-person volunteer events—weed removal on Oct.3, orchard work on Oct.11, a cooking workshop on Oct.14, and tree planting with a block party on Oct.25—and an online challenge through Zero in Bloomington, where logged actions from Oct.1 to Oct.31 enter residents in a gift basket raffle. - ➤ Two former IU Turning Point organizers—Kyle Reynolds and Tim Wheeler—filed a motion for reconsideration on Aug. 22 with a federal court to revisit the ruling that partially denied their request to create an 'All Lives Matter' mural, a case originally arising from a 2022 lawsuit against city officials. A pretrial conference is set for Nov. 4 with a bench trial scheduled for Nov. 17. Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ BMV data showed that Indiana University distinctive license plates topped Purdue plates with 179,436 sales—generating about $4.5 million—compared to Purdue's 158,767 sales up to July 31. IU's higher enrollment of 89,247 students versus Purdue's 57,310 may explain the difference in popularity. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington’s water has lacked the recommended fluoride since late 2019 due to equipment problems, and officials say the water remains safe while a temporary fix will be completed by early 2026 with a full solution planned for 2027—when fluoride is restored, the public will be notified. - ➤ Indiana football will host Illinois today at Memorial Stadium in the first top-20 matchup between the teams since 1950. The Hoosiers are 3-0 and hope a win will add to their record — they have only six wins against top-10 teams and their only home win over such an opponent was in 1967. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Edgewood girls golf team will try to earn one of three spots in the North Sectional when they tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 at Cascades Golf Course—coach Garry Lee said his team is playing one shot at a time—to face strong teams like North and South. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington South boys’ soccer defeated Bloomington North 3-1 with three set piece goals for their 21st straight win in the rivalry — senior forward Konrad Polit scored twice and junior Adrian Dusleag added a late goal — and the Panthers will travel at 12:30 p.m. today to New Albany before meeting Columbus North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday as they chase a conference crown. - ➤ On September 12, the IU Hoosiers defeated the Indiana State Sycamores 73-0 in an NCAA football game in Bloomington—this decisive win highlighted their strong performance on the field. The Bloomingtonian
- ➤ Bloomington South will face Terre Haute South at 7:30 p.m.—coming off a 66-7 win—as teams play week 5 high school football tonight, while Terre Haute North will meet Bloomington North and Edgewood, Eastern Pekin and Owen Valley will also battle at 7 p.m. in local matchups. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington South won 49-14 over Terre Haute South on Sept. 19, with senior Shaun Cooper scoring five touchdowns and rushing for a career-high 221 yards after starter Braylen Townsend was injured—his performance helped secure the win.
