- ➤ Hoosier Alley opened on Bloomington's south side at 2424 S. Walnut St. in the former Lucky's market and serves burgers, flatbreads, shareables and a special pretzel grazing board with varying hours throughout the week. Culver's in Bloomington will offer jalapeno cheese curds beginning Oct. 15 and Indiana University fans can order an IU Trident pretzel at Memorial Stadium for the Oct. 18 home game. The Herald-Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Indiana University Bloomington maintained its national ranking at 73rd and its public school ranking at 34th in the 2026 U.S. News college rankings released Tuesday; the Kelley School of Business improved to 8th best while the School of Nursing in Indianapolis reached its highest ranking at 13th. Several IU regional campuses also ranked in the Midwest — IU East at 40th, IU Kokomo at 45th, IU South Bend at 46th, IU Southeast at 48th, and IU Northwest at 52nd. Indiana Daily Student
- ➤ Students at Hoosier Hills Career Center are building a barn today to learn practical construction skills for future careers. Over a dozen students work on the project to earn certifications — linking hands-on training with real-world experience. WRTV
- ➤ Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, will speak at Indiana University on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. as part of Turning Point USA’s American Comeback Tour—replacing Charlie Kirk—while IU students attend for free and the public can join a sold-out waitlist. The Herald-Times

- ➤ At a Sept 16 housing board meeting, the vote on repair plans for Union at Crescent was dropped due to a lack of a quorum and one board member recusing herself, delaying fixes for mold and other safety issues. The property owner promised more time to complete repairs—an appeal is set for Oct 21 with continued oversight from the city. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Indiana University led a consortium that has been named a finalist in NSF's Regional Innovation Engines competition to boost musculoskeletal health research in our state.
