- ➤ Residents in Cottage Grove are planning to designate their area as a conservation district to stop demolitions that may change the neighborhood’s look. They will hold a public meeting on Oct. 16 at the Monroe County Public Library to set district boundaries before applying to the Historical Preservation Commission—fewer than 100 homes are in the draft map. - ➤ First Christian Church serves a Welcome Table Breakfast every Sunday to feed a growing number of homeless—volunteers and interim outreach director Caleb Hoagland work with food suppliers and donors to meet rising demand. Due to an Oct. 1 fire, the meal service may move off-site as the church continues its community outreach. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Food Truck Fridays offers a community event at Switchyard Park where food trucks serve diverse cuisines from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. running from early April until Oct. 31—vendors share Caribbean, vegan, and other unique dishes that invite local residents to try new flavors. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ Things with Strings and More celebrated its grand opening at College Mall on Saturday with live music, giveaways and a raffle for a guitar while shoppers explored guitars and violins. Co-owners Curtis Porter and Richard Gulick plan to serve Bloomington musicians with sales, rentals and repairs—hosting regular community jam sessions to connect local talent. Indiana Daily Student

- ➤ On Saturday, more than 100 adults attended WonderLab Museum’s second annual Boozy Book Fair where they made crafts, played games, and explored new hobbies while enjoying beer from Upland Brewing—13 local groups shared hands-on projects like knitting and art printing. - ➤ Ellettsville has grown by nearly 500 acres through 13 voluntary annexations since 2020—a move that increased its population by 1.8%—and town officials say new schools, a Village of Harman Farm development, and a planned tech park will soon boost public services while keeping families in town. - ➤ Indiana football climbed two spots to No. 7 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after an off week — the undefeated Hoosiers with a 5-0 record will play No. 2 Oregon on Saturday in a top-10 matchup. The Herald-Times
- ➤ On October 3rd and 4th, IU women's tennis competed at the Hoosier Classic at IU Varsity Tennis Courts in Bloomington and won several singles and doubles matches against teams including Louisville, Purdue, and Butler—freshmen and juniors like Hi’ilani Williams and Mansi Vadyala helped boost the team’s performance at home. - ➤ Indiana's volleyball team defeated UCLA in four sets at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles when sophomore middle blocker Ella Boersema—subbed in during the third set—recorded six blocks to spark an 8-0 run late in the fourth set.
