COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Indiana University Recreational Sports is hosting the 25th annual Jill Behrman 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, November 1 to honor the late IU student and Bloomington native. The event features a themed color run titled 25 Times More Fun — live music, dance, food, and giveaways will further celebrate her legacy.  The Bloomingtonian
  • Menards is serving as a donation site for a local pantry and is collecting non-perishable food items such as cereal and soup at its exit doors until Oct. 31—shoppers are invited to support hunger relief efforts.  The Herald-Times
  • This weekend in Bloomington will offer a range of activities including baby goat yoga on Friday at Upland Brewing Company at 10 a.m., a haunted hayride at Fowler Pumpkin Patch at 8 p.m. Friday, a vinyl expo at Switchyard Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, an Open Studios Tour at six local art studios on Saturday and Sunday, and history tours at Rose Hill Cemetery starting Saturday at 5:30 p.m.—each event provides a special fall experience.  The Herald-Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Raydia Food Group will close its Bloomington plant — formerly part of Beasley Food Service since the 1960s — at 4863 W. Vernal Pike on Nov. 26 as it consolidates operations in the region. The shutdown, along with closures in Mishawaka and South Bend that will eliminate 200 jobs, comes amid software issues and slim profit margins.  The Herald-Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee of The Murder Sheet podcast will speak at the Bloomington Book Festival to discuss their true-crime book Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. Local journalist Laura Lane will moderate the panel at The Mill—642 N. Madison St.—on Sunday, October 26 at 1 p.m.  The Bloomingtonian
  • Jacobs alum Daniel Lelchuk released his new recording 'Cello Sonata' in collaboration with composer Aidan Vass on Sept. 26 on Spotify and Apple Music. The 11-minute piece—recorded in Los Angeles in May—features a dialogue between cello and piano and will be performed at Dartmouth College next spring and at the Antigua Chamber Music Festival Feb 17-21, 2026.  Indiana Daily Student
  • The Local Clay Potters’ Guild will host its 27th Annual Holiday Show at Monroe Convention Center in downtown Bloomington on Friday, October 31 from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — the event will display handmade ceramics by local artists along with a special guest from Michigan, Ed Brownlee.  The Bloomingtonian
  • Jewish Theatre Bloomington is marking its 20th season by presenting Arthur Miller’s drama The Price at the Waldron Arts Center’s Rose Firebay Theatre from November 6 through 16. Directed by Dale McFadden, the production will perform on November 6, 8, 13, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on November 16 at 3 p.m. — post-show talkbacks are scheduled for November 8 and 13.  The Bloomingtonian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Ken Nunn Law Office has launched a $1,000 scholarship for Indiana college students to help with tuition or education expenses. Eligible students with a 3.0 GPA and admission to an Indiana university must apply by December 7th—winners will be announced on December 19th.  The Bloomingtonian
  • Assistant professor Garim Lee from Indiana University traveled to an international conference in Zagreb, Croatia—where she presented research on using generative AI to help local retailers improve product pages and review summaries. She will finalize her experiments and submit her full paper for publication later this fall.  Indiana University

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Indiana basketball schedule for the 2025-26 season is set with games on subscription-only platforms—Big Ten Network, FS1, Peacock, CBS, Fox, B1G+ and ESPN, and includes exhibitions starting Oct. 17 and Oct. 26 with regular season play and a Big Ten Tournament in Chicago later in the season.  The Herald-Times
  • At Big Ten media days, former Indiana basketball guard Yarden Garzon said she is in the right place after transferring to Maryland following three seasons—she declined to share her reasons and thanked Hoosier fans for their support.  The Herald-Times
