CULTURE NEWS

  • A new dance adaptation of Hamlet will be performed at IU Auditorium on October 14 at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $22.50 (available online or at the box office). The show will feature a pre-performance discussion led by Anisa Tejpar and a post-show talk with Guillaume Côté to explain the creative process.  Indiana Daily Student

  • The Bloomington South boys soccer team won the sectional title by defeating Mooresville 7-0 on Oct. 11 while overcoming a season injury to all-state Tom Henry Berry. New head coach Jake Kabrick + a new team style guided the Panthers as they will face Whiteland in the regional semifinals on Oct. 15.  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana's men's soccer team staged a comeback on Friday night as Palmer Ault scored the go-ahead goal and recorded two assists to lift the home team to a 4-2 win over Ohio State. Coach Todd Yeagley (the team leader) said Ault turned a 15-minute stretch into the key moment that shifted the game's momentum.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Bloomington North rallied late in its home game on Oct. 10 to beat Columbus North 31 to 28. Senior quarterback John Bargen led a final drive with key passes that lifted the Cougars to a 5-3 record and set them up to close out the season next Friday.  The B Square Bulletin
  • The Bloomington South girls soccer team won 5-1 over defending champion Terre Haute South in Saturday’s Class 3A Martinsville Sectional final—avenging last year’s loss and setting up a regional semifinal against Center Grove on Oct 16.  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti led his team to a 30-20 win over Oregon yesterday at Autzen Stadium—six former JMU players, including defensive end Mikail Kamara, helped drive the win. Their strong bond shows how a shared past has built a winning spirit for the Hoosiers.  The Herald-Times
  • The Bloomington South Panthers remained undefeated at 8-0 after defeating Brebeuf 38-7 Friday night — they will host Center Grove next week.  The B Square Bulletin
  • On Friday night, No. 20 Indiana volleyball swept Michigan in Ann Arbor with a .368 hitting percentage, led by freshman setter Teodora Kričković who added 35 assists, four kills and two block assists (her highest total in the game) to lift the team to a record of 5 to 0 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers will face Michigan State today at 1 p.m. at the Breslin Center.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti said his team used a winning mindset to pull off a 30-20 upset win over No. 2 Oregon.  The Herald-Times
