EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Indiana University reversed its decision to cancel the Indiana Daily Student's print edition—allowing it to print until June 30 as long as it meets budget guidelines. The paper will continue to publish print editions this school year with the next edition coming Nov. 20. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Indiana University's interior design program turned 100 this year as it evolved from teaching homemaking skills to training students in human-centered design—now the program requires students to earn professional certification for creating safe and accessible spaces. Indiana University

- ➤ The City of Bloomington will offer free weekly leaf collection from November 3 to December 31 as residents must use biodegradable paper yard-waste bags and set them out by 6 a.m. on their regular collection day, and plastic bags will not be accepted. Free bundles are available at the Sanitation Division (3406 S. Walnut St., Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) while supplies last. City of Bloomington
- ➤ Bloomington’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Commission is accepting nominations for the 2026 Legacy Award, which honors individuals, businesses, or organizations that reflect Dr. King’s values. Nominations must be submitted online by December 1, and the award will be presented at the community-wide celebration—an event that promotes diversity and justice. City of Bloomington

- ➤ Cory Miles—an Air Force veteran and devoted IU fan—dressed as coach Curt Cignetti at a recent game, and many fans stopped him for photos because of his striking look. He will perform his impersonation at upcoming games, and coach Cignetti has approved the act. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington North senior Isa Muhammad moved to nose guard and has improved the Cougars' defense with strong tackles. Coach Brett Cooper said the change has allowed double teams on opponents—helping the sophomores gain more freedom as the team prepares to face Terre Haute North today at 7 p.m. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Bloomington South twin seniors Aurelia and Jasmine Martoglio chose Indiana University after visiting several colleges because its close proximity to home and strong academics mattered— they will run in the IHSAA girls state cross country meet on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course and aim for a top-25 finish. - ➤ Indiana field hockey will play its final regular season game today at 5 p.m. against No. 14 Michigan — the Hoosiers are on a four-game win streak and have climbed to No. 17; the team will head to Deborah Tobias Field for the Big Ten Tournament starting Nov. 6-9 — preparing for postseason play.
