CULTURE NEWS

  • On Friday night the IU Cinema screened 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' and hosted a Q&A where producer Mike Farah, who spent three days in Bloomington meeting with film and business students, discussed his work in comedy movies—explaining how live screenings create a shared energy not found in streaming services—and adding insight for local fans.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Constellation Stage & Screen is showing You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown! in Bloomington from Nov 1 to Nov 16; the final show at 4 p.m. on Nov 16 is sensory-friendly — it has lower sound and no flashing lights. The play marks the 75th anniversary of the first Peanuts comic and features classic characters with songs from 1967 to reach both kids and adults.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Bloomington’s FAR Center held its Gallery Walk Opening Reception last Friday for Emilia Martin’s solo exhibition, 'I saw a tree bearing stones in the place of apples and pears,' which features photography and physical stones that tell varied stories. The exhibit will remain on display until Jan 30 and offers free admission (and included a Q&A with IU art students) (inviting the community to explore themes of art and myth).  Indiana Daily Student

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On September 30, the U.S. Department of Education canceled the GAANN fellowship— a grant meant to support six IU physics doctoral students from underrepresented backgrounds— leaving students like Anna McElhannon to face delays in their research and possible changes in teaching roles as IU officials work to secure new funding and clarify closure details.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • The second-ranked Hoosiers will play Penn State in Week 11 and have never won at Penn State, holding a road record of zero to thirteen. Their last win came in 2020 at home with a 36 to 35 overtime victory that left Penn State with a series lead of twenty-five to two.  The Herald-Times
  • Freshman Colton Swan scored his second and third season goals as No. 25 Indiana men's soccer won 5-0 against Rutgers on Friday at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington. Teammates Clay Murador and Breckin Minzey also scored — helping the Hoosiers earn their first shutout of the season in Big Ten play.  Indiana Daily Student
  • On Friday, Bloomington South rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Bloomington North 31&28 for the sectional championship. The Panthers will face Floyd Central at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the regional round.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana women's basketball trailed by 7 points at halftime but turned the game around with a strong second half to win by 16 points over UIC at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Friday night—senior guard Shay Ciezki scored 25 second-half points to help the team rally.  Indiana Daily Student
  • IU women's basketball defeated UIC on November 7 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington — senior guard Shay Ciezki led the team with 35 points and seven 3-pointers while freshman guard Navaeh Caffey added five points in the win.  Indiana Daily Student
  • The Indiana volleyball team beat Iowa on November 7th at Wilkinson Hall in Bloomington with the Hoosiers winning three of five sets. Key players — freshman Audrey Jackson with eight digs and senior Candela Alonso-Corcelles with 11 digs — helped secure the win.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana football remained undefeated with a 27-24 win over Penn State after Fernando Mendoza led a last-minute drive that set up a decisive touchdown by Omar Cooper Jr.—Charlie Becker added 118 receiving yards in a game played without injured receiver Elijah Sarratt. The Hoosiers showed both strong moments and areas needing improvement during the contest.  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana football beat Penn State 27—24 at Beaver Stadium on Saturday after a 10-play, 80-yard drive ended with Omar Cooper Jr’s toe-tap touchdown with 36 seconds left in the game. The win, Indiana’s first at the historic venue after 14 tries, featured strong plays from Charlie Becker and a solid defense that preserved the unbeaten season.  The Herald-Times
