EDUCATION NEWS

  • IU works with President Pamela Whitten, the first female to hold the role, and IU Bloomington Chancellor David Reingold, who began his leadership on June 2 — the university employs 12,500 non-academic staff and is managed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. Additional leaders including Provost Rahul Shrivastav and Vice Chancellor Katie Walker help guide campus operations and financial decisions.  Indiana Daily Student

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hoosiers who use MDwise for Medicaid must choose a new company for their benefits starting Jan. 1 — Anthem, Care Source, or Managed Health Services — after FSSA ended its contract citing lower quality and higher costs. MDwise disputes these claims and cautions that the switch may delay some members' access to their current providers.  WTHR
  • Bloomington City Council and community members met Wednesday evening to review housing challenges and discuss potential zoning reforms, using breakout sessions and expert presentations (highlighting issues like permit delays that raise costs). The council said official policy proposals (including zoning changes to boost housing diversity) will be introduced early next year.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Legislation to reopen federal agencies has a new rule that will lower the allowed THC in hemp products from 0.3% Delta-9 to 0.3% total THC — a change set to start Nov. 12th — which local hemp businesses warn could endanger jobs and investments if lawmakers do not revise the language.  WTHR

HEALTH NEWS

  • A local column offers creative ideas like journaling, dancing, and starting new hobbies to ease winter blues and Seasonal Affective Disorder. Boy in the Bubble will perform a free sketch comedy show on Saturday, Nov 15 at 9 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building—an event aimed at lifting spirits in the community.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Doctors say most eligible Hoosiers are missing the low-dose CT scan that can find lung cancer early—only about 6% of qualifying patients have been screened. Tom Jeffries’ case shows early detection leads to better outcomes, and experts urge those 55 or older with a smoking history to get checked.  WTHR

  • Indiana men’s soccer senior forward Palmer Ault was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year — he led the nation with 16 goals and 10 assists and earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten honors. Four other players received conference awards as the team prepares for the NCAA Tournament bracket release on November 17th.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana guard Tayton Conerway scored 21 points and recorded six assists to help his team win 101-70 over Milwaukee at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The sixth-year senior guard showed strong moves on both ends of the court—his play improved Indiana's record to 3-0.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana football will face Wisconsin on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington — the Hoosiers, a four touchdown favorite, aim to secure a spot in the Big Ten title game and lock up a playoff bye.
