- ➤ Indiana Rail Road’s Santa Train will travel across southern Indiana from Dec. 5 until Dec. 7 with stops close to Bloomington on Dec. 6 in Solsberry, Bloomington, and Linton. Families can ride the free train to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, and his elves—enjoying photo opportunities and handing off wish list letters. The Herald-Times

- ➤ In 2015, Charlie Mullin bought a 1961 Mercedes-Benz for $650 at an Owen County auction and has kept the car at his Mullin Equipment on U.S. 231 (where his mechanic said it could run with little expense), leaving its fate open as he may repair or sell it in the future. The Herald-Times

- ➤ This week, live music events will take place in Bloomington as venues like The Bluebird, Gather, Buskirk-Chumley Theater, and IU Auditorium host a range of acts from DJ Smitty to The Singing Hoosiers; ticket prices range from $5 to $40 in shows that cater to 21+ and family audiences. - ➤ IU graduates led by co-director Michelle Hernandez produced a stop-motion animated short film called Things You Know But Cannot Explain that features Rick Bartow’s artwork and is narrated in the Wiyot language—today the film is shown on AMC+ as part of The Future of Film: Indigenous Voices until Dec.15. - ➤ Straight No Chaser, the men's a cappella group formed at Indiana University, will perform at the IU Auditorium on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. as part of its Holiday Road tour featuring songs from their new album, and tickets start at $75. The Herald-Times

- ➤ Fernando Mendoza and Julian Sayin, the top Heisman Trophy favorites, will play in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (the win will decide the No. 1 College Football Playoff seed and impact the Heisman race). The Herald-Times
- ➤ Indiana volleyball earned a No. 4 seed and will host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament in Bloomington, playing Toledo on Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. The team ended the season 23-7 with a top-five Big Ten finish and makes its first tourney appearance since 2010 under coach Steve Aird — led by standout hitters. - ➤ On Sunday, coach Curt Cignetti said the Indiana football team learned from last year's loss to Ohio State when mistakes in pass protection and special teams cost them, and the undefeated Hoosiers are now better prepared. The team will face No. 1 Ohio State in the Big Ten title game on Saturday night — a chance to overcome those missteps. The Herald-Times
- ➤ Indiana women’s basketball lost their season opener to No. 10 Iowa State 106-95 on Sunday—senior guard Shay Ciezki scored 38 points as the bench added 18 points, showing promise despite the defeat.
