GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monroe County commissioners delayed the removal of the Thomson encampment from tomorrow, Dec. 8, to Dec. 15 (affecting an estimated 40 to 50 residents) after activists raised concerns over cold weather and safe relocation. The county-owned property is within city limits.  The B Square Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, Indiana basketball dropped its second straight game, falling 87-78 to Louisville at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a slow start proved costly; Tucker DeVries led with 26 points while Nick Dorn hit key triples in the final minutes.  The Herald-Times
  • IU football's defensive end Mikail Kamara suffered a lower-body injury in the third quarter of the Big Ten title game and left briefly before returning after trainer consultation (he did not put weight on his right leg), while receiver Omar Cooper Jr. also exited due to a leg injury.  The Herald-Times
  • The Indiana Football Coaches Association announced its Top-50 All-State team for 2025 on Dec. 6, naming standout players from several high schools across both offense and defense. The list was released during a press event and highlights talent from multiple school classes.  The Herald-Times
  • Indiana volleyball swept Colorado at Wilkinson Hall with standout performances from Candela Alonso-Corcelles (16 kills) and freshman Jaidyn Jager. The win marks the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory in 15 years and advances the team to the Sweet 16, with regional semifinals set for Dec. 11-12.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Edgewood boys basketball opened their season on Friday, Dec. 5 with a 62-46 win over Cloverdale as Caden Jones scored 22 points. The win gave the Mustangs a strong start ahead of upcoming games.  The Herald-Times
