About this event

Each season has an energetic direction and quality that permeates throughout nature. The intention of this vinyasa flow class is to utilize the teachings of yoga, in combination with the sciences of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine to adapt our lifestyle and behaviors to align to the the energies of the season. The class incorporates specific yogic practices to rebalance and harmonize with the seasonal energy. Practices may include meditation, pranayama (breathing), asana (postures), kriyas (cleansing), self-massage, and more. LATE FALL/EARLY WINTER: November 1 - December 21 Rest and Containment Late Fall or Early winter is a time of letting go, preparing for the dark of winter and returning to the earth. A time for rest and containment. At this part of the cycle we have taken in all that Earth has to offer. As the leaves fall from the trees, we are reminded that we can’t always be full and that there is a time to let go of everything. The tree frees itself and returns to emptiness, ready to begin the cycle again. Nature sends us the instructions to let go of what is stale and no longer of service and to turn inward, letting go of production and striving. Early winter flow focuses on warming and stoking agni, or the digestive fire while encouraging slowness and softness in postures that are grounding and restful. As the series progresses towards the busier holiday season, we will restore the body with a yoga nidra practice incorporated into the flow.
