COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bloomington Animal Shelter is running its 'Double the Love' fundraiser from Sept. 1 to Sept. 21 to raise money for emergency care as rising costs and high shelter numbers increase the need— the city will match donations up to $20,000 to help cover urgent surgeries and treatments.  The Herald-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A state law took effect on July 1 that requires Indiana University to post course syllabi online—IU set its own rule on July 26 that they must be available at least seven days before classes start using an automated system to copy materials from Canvas to CourseLeaf. Some professors expressed worry that the change could limit academic freedom and invite competitive pressure.  Indiana Daily Student

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana men's soccer shut out Oregon State 2-0 on Sunday night with a penalty goal by Palmer Ault in the 17th minute and a second goal set up by Michael Nesci in the 46th minute. Head coach Todd Yeagley praised the team's strong defense and graduate goalkeeper Holden Brown, who earned the game ball, for boosting its performance.  Indiana Daily Student
  • Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti said safety Bryson Bonds suffered a season-ending knee injury during Monday's 27-14 win over Old Dominion & his injury leaves the team with few options at safety. Bonds, the longest tenured player from the 2020 class, was a key contributor on special teams, deepening Indiana's safety concerns this season.  The Herald-Times
