If you live in or near Ellettsville, your local government is set to change, though not right away. Voters approved the merger of and the town Tuesday, with 3,007 votes (54.8%) for and 2,480 (45.2%) against. It needed more than 50% from town voters and from township voters, and the township side passed by just 33 votes.

The town's boundaries will grow to cover essentially the entire township. The township government will eventually be eliminated, with its responsibilities moving to the reorganized town.

  • Size: 35 square miles, essentially all of Richland Township
  • New council: seven elected members
  • Polls: open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday
  • Also on the ballot: secretary of state and state constitutional amendments

Indiana football lands at No. 4 in the first College Football Playoff rankings

If you bleed crimson, here's your Wednesday: the Hoosiers (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) are No. 4 in the first CFP rankings and the highest-ranked team in the Big Ten. If the season ended today, Indiana would get a first-round bye and face the winner of No. 5 Alabama and No. 12 Boise State in the quarterfinals. Not bad for a bye week.

The Wrap

Halloween is over, but the spooky season isn't done at the John Waldron Arts Center. "R.L. Stine's Goosebumps The Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium" opened Friday with jump scares and a masked mystery figure. It's a 75-minute, all-ages show based on Stine's 1994 book, put on by Constellation Stage & Screen. Cursed school play, anyone? We're in.
